Ida Picca-Caracristi & family In our thoughts July 10, 2007
We wish to extend our condolences to Mark and to Alisa'a family. We did not know her well.  I met Alisa at another sad and unfortunate event (Robert's Funeral) and in her pain she still took the time to know me.  It was important for her to keep in touch and she then wrote a Christmas card to us every year after that since we lived on opposite ends of the country. She made us feel important and always sent her best wishes. She will be remembered for her gentle and kind soul.

To Alisa's family,

Alisa was a real gift.  What a great laugh she had!  Alisa was a mentor to me when I was a new lawyer and she was a good friend.  I know how much she loved all of you.  I truly sorry for your loss.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

To Alisa's Family:

On behalf of the NutritionLink Society’s Board of Directors, I am forwarding our condolences to Alisa’s family. Alisa was such a wonderful person. I know her passing will leave a major void in your hearts.

I had the wonderful opportunity to meet her through her work as our lawyer over the past two years.  I will always remember how willingly she offered her in-sight, support and encouragement as challenges presented themselves.  The recommendations made were always thoughtful and ensured our success.  I personally will miss this.

Dear Mark & Alisa's family,

We are so sad to hear of Alisa's passing. What an amazing woman she was...such a good person who lived well, loved life, loved her family & friends.

While we had many heart to heart talks, probably my most endearing memory  of Alisa was our sleep over. It was so much fun. We feasted (we did lots of that); shared recipes (by the way Mark thank you for letting Alisa share your pesto with Bill & I...yes her pesto was the best); we shared stories about our families; she certainly loved her nieces & nephews. She was looking forward to her trip with her Mom & sister and she loved her Mark. She shared personal spiritual stories, that is a comfort to me now, for I know there is an angel watching over us...there's a sparkle in her eye and she's smiling!

We will miss you Alisa!

Our sincere sympathy,

Bill & Ina

To Mark and Noda Family:

Our hearts were filled with sadness and our eyes filled with tears upon hearing of Alisa's sudden passing.  It was very hard to believe.  Before Alisa's passing about three weeks ago we had a family get together for our nieces Jessika, Jenna, and Naomi's belated birthday party.  As always, Alisa would grace us with her presence and her happy smile.  As we all sat in the living room catching up on things and talking about life.  Now our family gatherings will not be the same.  But we know that Alisa will be surrounding us with her love and that she will be watching over us.  Our hearts and prayers are with you.

To Mark and the Noda Family and relatives

May I join with many friends to express my feelings of sympathy to you all. I got to know Alisa as one of the Nikkei Center Board. She was one of the opinion leaders in the Board and will be missed by many of us.

May what she has lived with her thought, speech, and action continue to give us  the strength and comfort so that can guide us through the difficult time of sorrow and also in the future. Although she is physically gone, she continues to live in our lives. Namoamidabutsu.

Our good Creator has a plan for each of us and, as mere human beings, it is difficult to understand why He directs our paths as He does.  Alisa has left a huge imprint on our hearts as Sto:lo people and her presence will surely accompany us through our treaty process that she was so devoted to achieving.  Alisa was sent to us with a heart of a warrior and the spirit of all that is good in life - I will truly miss her as one of the greatest human beings I have ever met and as a woman who cared deeply for disadvantaged women.  When I was notified of her passing, that evening I stepped on to my deck and saw her in the first star of the evening - another shining star to watch over us.  Thank you for sharing Alisa with us and we will continue to hold you up in prayer to help you through this difficult time.  I pray for our good Creators healing hands and comfort on all of you in your time of sorrow.

Dear Mark

I am so sorry to hear about Alisa's passing and know how keenly you will miss her.  As you know, I lost my husband about a year and a half ago.  If it were not for Alisa I don't think I'd be doing as well as I am today, or at least until I heard the news about her.  She was very forthcoming and helpful.  I cannot believe she is gone.  We had been trying to get together for lunch for the past few months and were trying again during the summer, but she had so many commitments.

I marvelled at how she could give so much of herself to all her various cases at work, and still have the energy and enthusiasm for her other interests.  She said she was looking forward to catching some long weekends at Mayne with you and Juba, but didn't have time for a long holiday over the summer.

I am so sorry for you loss.  You will be in my thoughts.  As  you know I have been through this myself, am still dealing with it, in fact.  If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.

I'm sorry that after all our practice Alisa and I never did get to sing our John Denver/Placido Domingo song together.  We had been hoping for another opportunity.

With deepest sympathy. Karen Drexel

To Alisa, Mark and her beloved family members,

One feels so truly blessed when you have the fortune to meet others who inspire you to enjoy life, love, give, and laugh as much as Alisa did.  There are few I know who are involved in as many pursuits with as much passion; the Japenese community, the First Nations community, women everywhere, writers, singers, dancers, gardeners, cooks, skiiers and travelers!  The list goes on.  Alisa inspired me in life and I will keep her memory alive to inspire me in the years ahead.  To Mark, I am so glad that Alisa needed her office painted some 12 ish years ago (and that Jo stepped aside)!  The love and the life that you and Alisa shared was very special. Our hearts and minds are with you.
